Although these two concepts are based on the same common platform, each has a distinct personality.

On the one hand the N Vision 74, which is inspired by the past and the 70s, on the other hand the RN22e concept, inspired by the latest Ioniq 6 and which talks to us about the future.

A tribute to the beginning of Hyundai

The N Vision 74 is a high-performance hydrogen fuel cell hybrid model, directly inspired by the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo and the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe concept.

Going back a little, in 1973, the leaders of the company made a decision: to build their own model of the car. From the second semester, the engineers started working and a brand new factory was built for them. The revolution continues, but we still have to be known.

To commemorate the occasion, the manufacturer rented a stand at the 1974 Turin Motor Show, for its first official appearance in Europe. The strategy is simple, Hyundai brings back the technical base of Mitsubishi Colts to create its first real car: the Pony, designed by ItalDesign.

Hyundai Pony, De Lorean’s sister

The day before the public opening, Hyundai executives walk the paths of the Turin exhibition center and go to greet Giorgetto Giugiaro, at the ItalDesign stand. This shows a stylish coupe with taut lines, with gray bodywork reminiscent of stainless steel, reminiscent of DeLoreans also designed by Giugiaro.

A concept car that the designer would like to sell to DeLorean to complete its range. However, this concept also has a real family resemblance to the first production Hyundai, the Pony.

Within minutes, the deal is done. A few hours before the start of the show, Giugiaro presents the first concept car in its history for Hyundai.

Half a century later

Less than fifty years later, Hyundai has become a global player in the automotive industry, with high performance in every market in the world. Through their ability to spark imagination, the RN22e and N Vision 74 perfectly reflect Hyundai N’s electrification vision and brand aspirations.

The NN Vision 74 concept inherits the clean surfaces, dynamic profile and unique B-pillar of the 1974 Pony Coupé concept.

Where the brand’s nature meets high performance, it is the first “performance laboratory” to use the most advanced hydrogen fuel cell system ever developed by Hyundai N. A solution for the future, but the brand also brings a stable and the second concept. , close to the series.

The idea that announces the Ioniq N

In 2023, Hyundai will launch the Ioniq 5 N, its first electric high-performance model. For the past seven years, Hyundai’s N series has been the Korean manufacturer’s high-performance label.

By presenting the RN22e, which advertises the Ioniq 6 N, Hyundai wants to get the message across. The N tag will not die from lightning, on the contrary.

Hyundai notes that N-badged cars have cornering prowess, which the RN22e takes advantage of by making full use of torque vectoring control via the dual clutch.

3D printed parts save weight while maintaining structural stability for more aggressive cornering attacks. With all-wheel drive, the RN22e promises first-rate handling.

The near future

The goal is clear, to offer Ioniq models in sports versions, capable of going out on the circuit and back on the road.

Compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the ground clearance is lower, the shoulders are more marked and the lower bumper is sportier. Modifications that improve the cooling and aerodynamics of the car.

Continuing the saga of N models across the range, Hyundai intends to give the brand a sporty future, while increasing zero-emission models.
