French parliamentarians, on the left but also in the majority, have recently proposed creating a tax on companies that have made large profits “thanks” to inflation. The boss of Stellantis, which has made a total profit of 8 billion euros in the first half of the year, replied: “T.anything that can discourage the creation of value in the country, with disturbances, or decisions considered unfair in relation to the efforts of our workers (…) will not be productive.“, so declared Carlos Tavares in an interview with the press, before continuing: “We contribute to the wealth created in France“, highlighting the taxes paid by the company and its contribution to the country’s balance of trade, and changes in payments to employees and shareholders.

“Always trouble with money in France”

In addition, the French boss returned to his annual salary of 19 million euros which caused controversy at the highest level of the State. Emmanuel Macron himself found it “shocking”.
