Scuderia Ferrari set the fastest time in the second free practice session at Monza, thanks to Carlos Sainz.
Ferrari started the weekend with a bang with a double in Free Practice 1 with Red Bull following.
It was on medium tires that most competitors started the session at the end of the afternoon, and Max Verstappen tune in at 1’22″303, four thousand ahead Charles Leclerc and a twelfth in front carlos sainz. Sergio Perez and mercedesat a clear distance, he came near a little later – the Mexican at six o’clock, george russell to the tenth part in particular.
Priority was given to qualifying simulations in softball, with 1’21″807 to Max Verstappen’s credit when Mick Schumacher (for his first session of the day after leaving his seat Antonio Giovinazzi in EL1) stopped his Haas on the edge of the track, the victim of a technical problem. The red flag flew.
Once the celebration started again, Sainz did better with a time of 1’21 “664, Leclerc in turn rising to half a tenth of Verstappen, while the rest of the field was reduced to more than sixteen. The end of the session was particularly long term commitment.
So it was Sainz-Verstappen-Leclerc these three who finished the day in front, but the last Grands Prix has taught us that the reality of free practice is not necessarily that of the rest of the weekend. For now, however, these are the only features we have. Note that behind these three, it is Lando Norris who was “the best of the rest”, closely followed by Russell and Pérez. Lewis Hamilton showed a deficit of eight tenths, the Alpine more than a second. In the background, Aston Martins and Williams of Latifi were in trouble.
No major runway trip would be frowned upon, even if the loopholes were used several times. Valtteri Bottas, was discovered with two trips on the gravel at the exit of the second Lesmo, with no apparent damage. To realize that Yuki Tsunoda is being investigated by Administrators for not following yellow flags.
