Cambodia has a green landscape with fields as far as the eye can see, in which lotus flowers grow. The latter is very popular with Sophie Brooksa French designer, makes it the raw material for making luxury clothes. The ostrich will have to travel many kilometers by boat before reaching the farm where the flowers are grown. After doing some amazing work, Sophie Brooks he discovered lotus fields in 2017 during a trip to Cambodia and that’s when the idea of making clothes from them came to his mind.
To Sophia BrooksThe flower is sure good, but the part he desires the most is the trunk. They are small plant fibers that will be used to make clothes. A Cambodian farmer helps the Frenchman in his search for the best stems. “I’ve been doing this long enough to know what sticks to take. Young stems are full of fibers, old stems are less fibrous”explains Au Vanna. Then the sticks go to the laundry room to be spun. Only then can the fabric be made. Product in the lotus it is very soft and pleasant but few spreading.
