BMW X1 the king of high-end compact SUVs in the world

Models in the compact SUV category undoubtedly remain important for premium manufacturers. They are sold at a slightly lower price worldwide than the best models in the category above but represent a significant amount of sales, especially in Europe. Professionals of Automotive Industry Analysis we are pleased to present a list of the best-selling price models in the world within this small car category (segment C), based on data from 106 major markets in the world last year. It shows that it is the BMW X1 that stands out as the most expensive SUV sold in 2021 with 240,000 copies sold, a surprising performance knowing that the model was at the end of its career: launched in 2015, the F48 generation has just come out. it has been replaced by the new generation U11 X1. To achieve this good result, the BMW X1 probably still benefits from its introduction to the market: it was he who arrived first in the category of premium compact models in 2009, before the Audi Q3 and the Mercedes GLA.

Third with 185,000 units sold, the Audi Q3 crushes its rival from Mercedes: the GLA is satisfied with 127,000 copies sold ahead of the Lexus UX (78,000). In the second part of the ranking, note the presence in ninth place of the DS 7 Crossback (27,000) which still has the luxury of the front Jaguar e-Pace (19,000).

Larger SUVs remain ahead

These high-end compact SUVs are selling well but less than the ones at the top: note that in 2021, the Mercedes GLC proved to be the best-selling premium SUV in all categories with 356,867 copies sold.
