- BMW Motorrad recalled the R 1250 RT, K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL in the US, due to a suspension problem.
BMW Motorrad has recalled three different motorcycle models in the United States, due to a possible problem with the front suspension that could cause the motorcycle to wobble for a while. German motorcycle manufacturers have stated that this issue can lead to loss of control and accidents. Motorcycles affected by this recall campaign include the 2024 BMW R 1250 RT, BMW K 1600 GT and BMW K 1600 GTL.
In its recall document, BMW Motorrad stated that the issue concerns the Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) of the affected motorcycles. Valve in the damper in these suspension struts can be built from material of the correct specifications. This can cause the valve to disengage over time, resulting in insufficient or incorrect damping. This can affect the stability of the affected motorcycles when driving at high speeds or on rough road conditions, causing serious accidents. However, the OEM added that it is not aware of any accidents caused by faulty suspension parts so far and issued this recall on a voluntary basis.

The two-wheeled giant claims to have identified a group of insects that may have suspension defects. The company also said that it has already ordered authorized service centers to inspect the affected motorcycles and make necessary changes in these models to fix the issue. BMW Motorrad will notify owners of affected motorcycles and ask them to bring them to service centers for inspection and repair.
BMW Motorrad sells some of these motorcycles in India as well. However, BMW Motorrad India has not issued such a recall so far. The BMW R 1250 RT is available in India for ₹24.95 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the BMW K 1600 GTL is priced at Rs. ₹33 lakhs (showroom).
