Despite the popularity of SUVs, Alfa Romeo will continue to build at least one sedan
Since the brand wants to be fully electric by 2027, this model will not be powered by fossil fuels.
Alfa Romeo wants to double its sales by 2023 with the arrival of the Tonale
Alfa Romeo is committed to developing a sports sedan, as the company announced that the Giulia would see a new generation in a few years.
This next model will have to be fully electric, however, as Alfa Romeo has committed to selling only EVs by 2027, which doesn’t leave enough time for a new generation by then. Indeed, the current Giulia should receive a facelift in 2023 to remain competitive until the arrival of its replacement.
This decision is surprising when you know that sedans have not been known as SUVs for many years now and the manufacturer knows this.
Indeed, Alfa Romeo is focusing on a new generation of SUVs that are under development. By 2027, four crossovers will bear the Alfa badge, including the soon-to-be-launched Tonale and the Brennero that will arrive in 2024.
Alfa Romeo believes that, despite the popularity of SUVs, there is still room in the market for powerful sports sedans, and that is what it aims for with the Giulia. It is still too early to know all the details about the mechanics of this next model, but it has been confirmed that it will be a battery electric car.
The small company expects to increase sales rapidly in the next decade with these new products and is already targeting 100,000 sales per year in 2023, almost double the 52,000 vehicles sold in 2021.
