Alfa Romeo took four points in the Australian GP, with Valtteri Bottas finishing eighth and teammate Zhou Guanyu finishing eleventh.
Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal: “Getting four points and another top ten result is very good, especially recovering after the race in Jeddah. The team did a great job under difficult conditions today. The first Safety Car’s timing was poor and cost the track a chance, especially with Zhou. We also got stuck in some DRS trains which made progress difficult, so we had to work hard to find our position, which we did, and we came very close to having both cars on the mark again, it’s proof that we’re on our way. the right direction.. The whole team did well today, now we can focus on the Imola race to continue our fight for a good position in the constructors’ championship.”
Bottas: “I really enjoyed today’s race, it was a good race with strong arguments from start to finish. Of course, the most important thing is that we brought home the points, and that’s thanks to the good work done by everyone in the team. I’m happy with the stops and how we ran. I had a fun day, despite having to work hard, pushing all race. Now I hope we can be strong and change. We have updates on the next steps so we can continue to fight for points in every race.”
Zhou: “I’m proud of my race, but obviously I’m a little upset that I didn’t get the points by such a small margin. Our pace was good, but we lost some positions with the safety car and that made life very difficult. I gave up and pushed hard towards the end, but I didn’t have a single tire when I fought Alex and I couldn’t move forward. Still, we solved the problem at the start and the race was good. I remember my first three races in Formula 1, and my worst result was 11th, so I can continue this good start, aiming to get points in every race.”
