A few months ago, the rapid intervention brigades of the national gendarmerie had 26 Alpine A110 units to replace their third generation Renault Mégane RS. The order increasing that of 17 Leon Cupra Seats placed in 2020. But beyond the models assigned to this special mission of rapid intervention, one of which was recently destroyed in a shocking situation, the French army must renew their vehicle fleet regularly times. According to the mobility trend law, they are obliged to buy 30% low emission models when renewing these ships (ie rejecting less than 60 g/km of CO2). But the gendarmes also always need 100% hot models, as evidenced by this new order placed by Renault for the 800 Grand Scenic with petrol engines.
The French military has opted for a longer version of the French minivan, which is currently in its final months of sales (the standard Scénic is off the list). So the model is designed in a five-seat version, with a four-cylinder TCe 1.3 liter of 160 horsepower associated with an automatic transmission with a dual clutch. A versatile and spacious machine that will allow soldiers to accomplish many different missions.
The final year of Scenic
Last year, the national police forces ordered Renault Grand Scenics to increase their 600 Peugeot 3008 and 5008 purchased in 2020. Like these and many of the vehicles that equip the police, the Renault Grand Scénic for the Gendarmerie will be produced by Durisotti. Note that production of the Grand Scenic will cease at the end of 2022.
