24H Spa: Ferrari Iron Lynx fastest n°51 in early qualifying

At the end of a 60-minute qualifying session that was a little calmer than this morning’s free practice (two red flags the same…), it was Ferrari who showed themselves to be at the top of the leaderboard. The No.51 Iron Lynx 488 GT3, driven by the James Calado-Miguel Molina-Nicklas Nicklas Nielsen trio, completed the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in 2:18.292. The Italian brand, the owner of the title in the Ardennes, reminds us that we will have to count this year.

Second time for the fantastic Porsche 911 GT3-R n°221 of GPX Martini Racing. Led by the 2019 winning trio Richard Litez-Kévin Estre-Michael Christensen, the German GT finished 32 thousandths behind Ferrari. In third place, we find the Mercedes-AMG n°2 Getspeed of Götz-Buhk-Schothorst which leads to tenth. A fantastic fourth time for the McLaren 720S n°7 Iribe-Millroy-Schandroff-Priaulx Introductory Racing which was also the fastest in the Gold Cup.

The car of the best Belgian driver of the session is in fifth place. The #47 KCMG Porsche 911 GT3-R shared by Laurens Vanthoor with Nick Tandy and Dennis Olsen is 16 hundredths back. You have to drop to 25th to find the Belgian next. The N°33 Audi R8 WRT that Ulysse De Pauw shares with Ryuichiro Tomita, Arnold and Maxime Robin is fifth in the Gold Cup and ahead of the n°26 Audi R8 Saintéloc of Nicolas Baert and Gilles Magnus. The AF Corse Ferrari of Louis Machiels is 33rd overall and 3rd in Pro-Am.

Obviously we did not look for performance in others. Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor (Audi R8 WRT n°32) are 37th, four rows ahead of Baptiste Moulin (Lamborghini Huracan VSR n°163) and nine ahead of the Porsche 911 TFT n°24 of Alessio Picariello. Sarah Bovy (Ferrari Iron Dames n°83) is 53rd ahead of Benjamin Lessennes (Audi R8 Boutsen n°10). The Bentley Continental CMR n°107 of Nigel Bailly, Stéphane Lémeret and Maxime Soulet is 58th ahead of the Audi R8 WRT n°46 of Fred Vervisch and the Aston Martin Vantage n°95 Beechdean of Maxime Martin.

Qualifying that ranks the national grid from 21st to 66th place along with 20 super-pole qualifiers will take place this evening starting at 8:40 pm.
