2023 KIA Soul Makes Its US Debut

2023 KIA Soul Makes Its US Debut

The KIA Soul 2023’s makeover was revealed unexpectedly. The Korean firm’s crossover has officially made its US premiere, bringing with it a slew of significant innovations across the board. The company has already declared that it will launch on the other side of the Atlantic next summer.

The KIA Soul is a real flagship model in the Korean brand’s lineup. Since its inception in the first generation in 2009, it has wowed thousands of buyers worldwide with its unique style and overpowering personality, while still giving a highly functional internal space in such little proportions, since it is a bet on sector B.

In Europe, it is exclusively available with an electric drive and is marketed as the KIA e-Soul. The model earned a substantial sales number in the United States in 2021, capturing 75,000 clients, a 5% increase over the previous year. An argument that emphasizes the Soul’s significance, which has been restyled in a more contemporary manner, emphasizes the narrow LED headlamps that give it a more aggressive and sporting appearance, which is connected by a thin closed grille.

KIA Soul 2022

The KIA Soul 2023 excels in terms of appearance, ergonomics, and equipment.

The front has a cooling grille that takes up the majority of the bumper and is decorated with a gloss black honeycomb mesh. The rear has also been altered, and although we can’t see it, the vertical layout of the pilots surrounding the enormous rear glass has been retained. KIA has preserved the vehicle’s original angular design, providing 17-inch or 18-inch diameter alloy wheels and new color options with contrasting ‘Fusion Black’ on the top.

Inside, KIA has embraced logic, enhancing ergonomics by placing the most frequently used controls within easy reach. The five trim levels – “LX”, “S”, “EX”, “GT-Line”, and “GT-Line Tech” – will all come equipped with significant standard equipment, including a new 10.25-inch touch screen for the infotainment system with integrated navigation from the second trim level, as well as the following elements:

The new KIA Soul, which will debut in showrooms in the United States next summer, will only be available in a mechanical configuration. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 147 horsepower, front-wheel drive, and equipped with a six-speed iMT intelligent manual transmission. For the time being, the corporation has made no mention of the electric form of the e-Soul or if it would be available in Europe.

Always generating notice for its unique appearance, the Soul seems to have been ahead of its time: although it was always difficult to categorize it, crossover-style hatchbacks are gaining traction today, and this is exactly the formula that the Kia model followed for two generations. However, given the visual and technical advancements shown by the Korean brand in recent releases, the Soul could not be left behind, and as expected, the firm has been working on an upgrade.

Two years after the introduction of its second generation, the time has come to renew its half-life, and the tests are becoming more rigorous. This is proven by images of a unit covered in a pretty thick layer of camouflage that conceals the whole front sector, a portion of the side, and the full rear. Apart from that, we can predict that the changes will be centered in the front, with a new internal design for the headlights, tweaks to the bumper and grille, and, to maintain the level of customization, more color, combination, and alloy wheel choices. At the back, similar changes to the headlights and bumpers are likely.

There are no photographs of the inside at the moment, but according to our Asian colleagues, the dashboard will be largely remodeled, with a new -larger- screen for the multimedia system, as well as new 100 percent digital instruments, new coatings, and adjustable features.

Mechanically, there will be changes depending on the market in which it is sold: in some, it will retain the current 123 hp 1.6, while in others, it will be offered exclusively in its all-electric version. However, there is talk of a new 1.6 T-GDI propellant (turbo with direct injection) with increased performance.

The facelift is slated to debut next year, although as Model Year 2023, since the MY2022 specification only includes the redesigned Kia logo.

Although the Soul was offered in our market for a long period of time, the Korean manufacturer recently chose to retire it in order to focus on its SUV lineup. Perhaps this makeover heralds his reappearance.

Kia Soul 2022

The forthcoming Kia Soul 2022 continues to get upgrades. The soul is a compact crossover SUV that is also rather inexpensive. However, the Kia Soul has a surprising amount of interior space, a smooth ride, and excellent handling.

Because Kia provides a plethora of current amenities, we believe the starting price is shockingly inexpensive. Because the 2020MY has been redesigned, the new Kia Soul lacks significant improvements.

Nonetheless, mid-cycle refreshments are on the horizon, which is excellent news. Both the appearance and interior will be refreshed, but nothing will change beneath the hood. The Soul Crossover, like the previous model, is available with two distinct engines. The sale will begin this summer.

There is no big redesign for the Kia e-Soul in the 2018 model year, but there are a few important upgrades. The crossover minivan, which is exclusively available with an electric powertrain in Europe, has received slight cosmetic updates – a new logo on the C-pillar and “quality-added inside accents” (quote from Kia).

However, two technical enhancements for the third generation, which were announced in 2019, are more significant. The e-Soul 204, the stronger of the two e-Soul models, is now authorized for a vertical load of 100 kilos. This enables the installation of a trailer hitch. Although the electrician is still not permitted to tow actual trailers, the connection enables the installation of commercially available carrier systems, such as those used to carry bicycles.

Threefold the speed of loading

Also, both variations may load quicker in the future. For an extra charge, the often criticized single-phase onboard charger may be replaced with a three-phase charger. The e-Soul will eventually be able to inhale its charging current from wall boxes and public AC charging stations with a capacity of up to 10.5 kW in a far more practical manner than previously possible. The three-phase charger adds 500 euros to the price, regardless of the model or equipment.

All e-Soul trim levels stay unaltered for the 2017 model year. The e-Soul 136 begins at 33,990 euros and the Kia e-Soul 204 at 37,790 euros before the current environmental incentive of 6,750 euros.

The most costly version is the e-Soul 204 Spirit, which costs 43,190 euros. Due to the fact that the sound generator module (AVAS) is now subsidized by an extra 100 euros on top of the environmental incentive, admission into the e-soul arena is essentially 27,320 euros. The latest model year of the Kia e-Soul is currently available for order.
